The inaugural Dubrovnik Triathlon event, Earth, Sea & Fire, will be held in Dubrovnik on October 13, 2018, with two races – for individual triathletes and relay teams – through the scenic cityscape of Croatia’s southernmost city. The Olympic Triathlon will include a two-lap (1.5 km) swim, four-lap (40 km) bicycle race, and a four-lap (10 km) run, while the Sprint Triathlon will challenge participants to a one-lap (0.75 km) swim, two-lap (20 km) bike ride, and a two-lap (5 km) run. The triathlon course includes a swim in the clear blue waters of the beautiful Gruž harbour, a fast ride on closed Dubrovnik roads and a run around the harbour. Both the Olympic and the Sprint routes will be available as relays, with three people competing in the individual disciplines.
Dubrovnik provides the perfect setting for a triathlon race, with a friendly climate, calm sea and very fast flat bike and run routes that offer seasoned triathletes an opportunity to achieve their personal best or break others’ records. The warm, welcoming atmosphere of the old city makes an excellent venue both for first-timers looking for a memorable initiation and for experienced competitors looking to enjoy everything Dubrovnik has to offer, from the captivating UNESCO-protected historic core and lush Mediterranean surroundings to the excellent local food, entertainment options and unique culture.
There will be several fun activities before and after the race itself. A welcoming party will be held on October 12, the day before the race, and participants will enjoy a warm-up swim at Banje Beach, next to the Old Town. Another party will be held after the awards ceremony on Saturday evening and all participants and their partners will be invited on a scenic boat trip on Sunday morning.
The Dubrovnik Triathlon is organized by Brighton and Hove Triathlon Event director, Human Race founder and London 2012 Olympic Triathlon Competition Manager, John Lunt. All the equipment used in the race will be donated to the Dubrovnik Triathlon Club to help them organize their own triathlon races in the future.
