Summer on the Elafiti, in Zaton and Orašac is a series of music and entertainment programs organized by the City of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board to enrich the city’s tourist offering in the summer months. As part of the program, about 30 different events will be held on the three largest Elafiti Islands – Lopud, Koločep and Šipan – and in the coastal towns of Zaton and Orašac in July and August to usher in the spirit of the traditional local festivities and holidays. The Elafiti Islands, a small archipelago northwest of Dubrovnik, attract large numbers of visitors in the summer with their beautiful beaches and lush scenery, while Zaton and Orašac are popular destinations for exploring the local traditions, history and authentic lifestyle. The small towns are situated in scenic bays with lovely views of Lopud and Koločep islands.
The summer events will include Dalmatian klapa concerts, traditional folk dance performances, and pop, rock and classical music concerts. They are organized to introduce visitors to local customs, folklore and traditional folk festivities and to provide them with an opportunity to experience the authentic atmosphere in the small towns around Dubrovnik and on the nearby Elafiti Islands.
The summer program kicked off with the Lopud Gastro Table in front of the Parish Hall on the island of Lopud on June 25 and will continue with Our Lady of Orašac festivities in Orašac on July 2, a Klapa Ragusa concert in Suđurađ on Šipan island on July 6, and performances of the Lazareti Dance Studio in Zaton on July 8 and in Donje Čelo on the island of Koločep. The five locations will host a number of concerts, dance performances, games and family film screenings throughout July and August. Special programs and events include the Šipan Summer Film School, Our Lady of Karmen festivities, St. Stephen Festival and Fishermen’s Night on Šipan, and the Adriatic Games in Zaton.
