Stradun Classic is the new festival for orchestra, chamber music and soloists founded in 2018, with idea to establish the top chamber music festival in Dubrovnik. The festival was founded by established Croatian clarinetist Marija Pavlović and Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra.
Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra is the symbol of Dubrovnik’s rich culture and tradition. Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra continuously perform for 95 years and represents the important part of Croatian and Dubrovnik cultural heritage. In a year Orchestra performs almost 100 concerts. Besides in Dubrovnik and its great locations, Orchestra is performing on Croatian and European prestige stages that are reserved only for the best artists.
Marija Pavlović is one of the most talented young musicians in Croatian. She was born in Dubrovnik but has established successful international career. She has already won a lot of prestigious awards. She is Artist-in-Residence of Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. In cooperation with Orchestra and other prestigious classical musicians from all over the world she established the Stradun Classic, a new festival for orchestra, chamber music and soloists.
The festival is gathering the top classical musicians from all over the world, musicians that play with orchestra as well as the soloists. The festival is opportunity for the Orchestra to play the chamber music with guest artists.
Some of the great musicians that where part of the first edition of the festival are Tom Owen awarded oboe player from England; first bassoonist of Rotterdam philharmonic and passionate chamber musician Pieter Nuytten; hornist Boštjan Lipovšek successful soloist of many world-prestige philharmonic; violinist Daniel Rowland; one of the world leading cellists Maja Bogdanović; award-winning double bassist Zoran Marković; pianist Martina Filjak and cellist Monika Leskovar.
Stradun Classic festival this year will host some more great world-class musicians. Among which are awarded Croatian mezzo-soprano, diva and star of worlds opera scenes Renata Pokupić; violinists Vineta Sareika, native of Latvia but with rich and respectable international career; Daniel Rowland British-Dutch internationally established violinist and passionate chamber musician; Monika Leskovar Croatian cellist with a lot of international awards; Martina Filjak piano player from Croatia with impressive number of performance with esteemed orchestras in home county and abroad; Radovan Vlatković Croatian born but world known horn player, one of the leading instrumentalist of his generation; Boštjan Lipovšek
Slovenian classical horn player.
This year festival will host some the last year guests like Tom Owen oboe player form England, Pieter Nuytten first bassoonist of Rotterdam philharmonic and Zoran Markovic double bass player.
The Orchestra will be conducted by maestro Darrell Ang and maestro Marc Tardue – Principal Conductor of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra.
All concerts of this festival will take a place at the magnificent ambient of the Rector’s Palace. The festival will be held from 4th to 11th October 2019.
